Optimization of Sound Spatialization Resource Management through Clustering

چکیده

Level-of-detail is a concept well-known in computer graphics to reduce the number of rendered polygons. Depending on the distance to the subject (viewer), the objects' representation is changed. A similar concept is the clustering of sound sources for sound spatialization. Clusters can be used to hierarchically organize mixels and to optimize the use of resources, by grouping multiple sources together into a single representative source. Such a clustering process should minimize the error of position allocation of elements, perceived as angle and distance, and also di erences between velocity relative to the sink (i.e., Doppler shift). Objects with similar direction of motion and speed (relative to sink) in the same acoustic resolution cone and with similar distance to a sink can be grouped together.

Tools and widgets for spatial sound authoring

Broader use of virtual reality environments and sophisticated animations spawn a need for spatial sound. Until now, spatial sound design has been based very much on experience and trial and error. Most effects are handcrafted, because good design tools for spatial sound do not exist. This paper discusses spatial sound authoring and its applications, including shared virtual reality environments...

Spatial Structures Programming for Music

We survey works and applications of visual programming for the control of sound spatialization in the OpenMusic computer-aided composition environment. Several salient aspects of the control and spatialization processes are described, such as the high-level description of spatial sound scenes, their unfolding in musical or computational time flows, as well as the concept of spatial sound synthe...

3-D Sound Spatialization using Ambisonic Techniques

The exploration of sound spatialization is a preoccupation of many composers and performers of electroacoustic music. Two-channel stereo techniques are widely used in the genre, but more sophisticated forms of sound spatialization are often restricted to those with access to significant technical resources. Recent technological developments have increased access to high-quality, multi-channel a...

Specter: Combining Music Information Retrieval with Sound Spatialization

Specter combines music information retrieval (MIR) with sound spatialization to provide a simple, yet versatile environment to experiment with sound spatialization for music composition and live performance. Through various interfaces and sensors, users may position sounds at arbitrary locations and trajectories in a three-dimensional plane. The system utilizes the JythonMusic environment for s...

Non-conscious Gesture Control of Sound Spatialization

This paper presents ongoing work into the design of interfaces for live musical performance using gesture controlled sound spatialization. In particular, we discuss the use of performer’s gestures to allow them to manipulate spatialization parameters without their conscious control. A number of motion capture sessions involving a cello performer are described through which we determined a set o...
